Who goes looking for one dollar? Usually somebody who’s a buck short on something. Or somebody who wants to see if this app stuff even works before giving it real time.
Both fair. Here’s what gets you a dollar, and what it takes to actually get it out.
Where a small balance can actually come out
| App | Smallest cash-out | Paid as |
|---|---|---|
| Google Opinion Rewards (iPhone) | Sent automatically every $2 | PayPal |
| Google Opinion Rewards (Android) | Lands right after each survey | Google Play credit |
| Swagbucks | 300 SB, which is $3 | Gift cards (PayPal too) |
| Freecash | $5 to $20 the first time, by region, then $5 | PayPal, crypto, gift cards |
| Bigcash | $15 PayPal cash-out in the app | PayPal, gift cards, Bitcoin |
| InboxDollars | $15 the first time | PayPal, gift card or Visa |
See the problem? A dollar you earned isn’t a dollar you can spend. So pick the app where a small balance goes somewhere.
1.Google Opinion Rewards
Best for: the smallest real cash-out
- What it is
- Google’s own survey app. It pays a little for quick market research questions.
- What you do
- Install it, answer a few questions about yourself, then answer surveys when it pings you. They don’t come on a schedule, and they expire if you sit on them.
- How much it pays
- On iPhone it’s $0.10 to $1.00 a survey, and Google sends the money to PayPal on its own every time you reach $2. On Android you get Google Play credit right after each survey instead of cash.
- The catch
- You can’t make surveys show up. Some weeks you get a few, some weeks nothing. Android credit only spends in the Play Store and expires a year after you get it. 18+.
Worth it? Yes. It’s free, it’s Google, and on iPhone that $2 PayPal cash-out is the lowest real one on this page.
On Android? Here’s how to stretch that credit: ways to get free Google Play credit.
2.Bigcash
Best for: earning your first dollar fast
- What it is
- A rewards app that pays coins for games, apps, surveys and offers.
- What you do
- Pick an offer and finish it. Bigcash says most take 5 to 10 minutes. 250 coins = $1, so your first dollar is one short offer away.
- How much it pays
- Bigcash says offers pay up to $170 each, which is its own number and the very top end. Cash out to PayPal or gift cards, and its App Store listing says payment goes out within 36 hours. Bitcoin works too.
- The catch
- You’ll earn a dollar fast, but you can’t withdraw one. And Bigcash can raise your cash-out threshold based on how you use your account.
Worth it? Only if you’re happy letting the dollars pile up to $15. For a dollar-a-day habit on your phone, it’s a solid pick.
3.Swagbucks
Best for: the lowest gift card cash-out of the big apps
- What it is
- A points site and app from Prodege. 100 SB (its points) = $1.
- What you do
- Take surveys, play games to hit goals, scan grocery receipts, or shop through it for cash back.
- How much it pays
- You can cash out from 300 SB, which is $3, in gift cards. Digital gift cards arrive in minutes to 5 business days, and PayPal takes 2 to 5 business days. The $10 welcome bonus needs a $25 purchase through its shop within 30 days.
- The catch
- Every task pays small, so that first $3 takes a while. The bonus isn’t free for signing up, either.
Worth it? Yes if a $3 gift card counts as winning. Teens can join at 13, with a parent’s okay.

4.Freecash
Best for: turning ten minutes into $10 instead of $1
- What it is
- A rewards site and app that pays for games, app trials, surveys and other offers.
- What you do
- Sign up and finish one offer. Pick a short one.
- How much it pays
- That first offer unlocks a $10 welcome bonus, ten times what you came here for. Your first withdrawal needs ID (a selfie plus your ID) and $5 to $20 depending on your region. After that, PayPal starts at $5, and most PayPal, crypto and gift card withdrawals are instant.
- The catch
- None of it’s yours until you clear that first minimum and the ID check. You need to be 16 or older.
Worth it? Yes. If you’re going to spend ten minutes on an app for a dollar, spend them where the first offer pays you ten.
5.Nielsen Computer and Mobile Panel
Best for: money that builds while you ignore it
- What it is
- Nielsen’s research panel. Its software and app measure how you use your phone and computer.
- What you do
- Install it on your devices and keep using them like normal. That’s it.
- How much it pays
- Nielsen says you can earn up to $50 in points a year by staying in the panel, for prizes and gift cards. It also gives away $10,000 a month in sweepstakes, with $500 for the top winners.
- The catch
- Up to $50 a year is about 14 cents a day. It tracks how you use your device, and points expire after a year (or after 6 months of no activity).
Worth it? Only if you’re fine with the tracking. It won’t make a dollar a day, but it runs in the background.

6.Need a real dollar in your hand right now?
Skip the apps. Every one of them takes longer than this.
Check the couch, the car cupholder, coat pockets and the junk drawer. Seriously, loose change beats a survey app on speed. If your state has a bottle deposit, a bag of cans at the return machine gets you there too.
Or sell one small thing. A phone case or an old video game on Facebook Marketplace usually goes for more than a buck, and a local buyer pays you on the spot.
Can you really make a dollar a day?
Yes, but not from one app. A dollar a day is $365 a year, which sounds great until you look at what it takes.
Google Opinion Rewards pays $0.10 to $1.00 a survey on iPhone, and you don’t control how many you get. So it won’t hit $1 every day on its own. Bigcash needs just 250 coins for a dollar, and most of its offers take 5 to 10 minutes by its count. Run the two together and a dollar a day is realistic.
Bottom line: two apps, about ten minutes a day, and the patience to let it build up to a cash-out.

What people ask about making $1
How can I get $1 on PayPal fast?
Google Opinion Rewards on iPhone sends PayPal automatically every time you reach $2, which is the smallest PayPal cash-out here. Freecash is quick once you’re verified, but the first withdrawal is $5 to $20 depending on where you live.
What app gives you $1 instantly?
None just for signing up. Freecash’s $10 bonus unlocks after your first offer, and Bigcash counts 250 coins as $1. Neither one lets you withdraw a single dollar, though.
Is making $1 a day worth it?
As a habit, sure. It’s $365 a year for a few minutes a day. If you need real money this week, go to how to make $10 fast instead.
