How to Make $200 Fast: 5 Ways That Get You There This Weekend

The short answer

$200 is a weekend, not an afternoon. The quickest ways there: two days of delivery on an app you’re already approved for, or selling a few things you don’t use. Odd jobs work too, once you’re signed up.

Starting from zero? Then it’s more like a week and a weekend, because the gig apps vet you first. Phone apps like Bigcash can cover the last $15 or so. They won’t carry you to $200 on their own.

Need $200 fast? It's a weekend, not an afternoon. Delivery shifts, selling two or three things, and odd jobs get you there. Here's when each one actually pays.

Here’s the thing nobody says about “make $200 in a day” lists. Half the ideas on them need an approval you don’t have yet, so they can’t pay you today no matter how hard you hustle.

So this page sorts everything by one question: if you started right now, when would the money actually be in your account?

A $200 weekend, roughly

Friday night: list a few things worth about $225 in total (that covers Mercari’s 10% if you ship). Sign up for anything below you’re not on yet, so the checks start running.

Saturday and Sunday: if you’re approved on Uber Eats or another delivery app, work the lunch and dinner rushes. If you’re not, answer messages on your listings and meet buyers.

Next weekend: that’s when TaskRabbit or Rover can start paying, once you’ve cleared their checks. Either one is the kind of gig where one or two jobs make a real dent in $200, since you set your own rate.

5 ways to $200, fastest money first

1.Uber Eats

Best for: cashing out the same night

What it is
Delivering food, groceries and packages through the Uber Driver app.
What you do
Take delivery requests by car, motorbike or scooter, bike, or on foot, depending on your city. You see the fare, upfront tip included, before you accept.
How much it pays
Base fare plus promotions plus 100% of your tips. Pay goes to your bank weekly, or Instant Pay cashes you out up to 6 times a day for $1.25 each. With the Uber Pro Card, payouts are free after every trip.
The catch
Uber doesn’t publish an average, so how many orders make $200 depends on your city and your tips. You need to pass background screening first. 18+ on a bike or on foot, 19+ in a car (21 in California and New York State).

Worth it? Yes if you’re already approved. It’s the fastest way on this page to turn a weekend of work into money you can spend the same evening.

2.Mercari

Best for: stuff that ships easily

What it is
An app and site for selling your stuff to buyers who pay through Mercari.
What you do
List the item (listing is always free), ship it when it sells, get your money.
How much it pays
Mercari keeps 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer paid, so plan on about $225 in sales to clear $200. Free direct deposit typically takes up to 5 business days, once a day. Instant Pay lands in up to 30 minutes for $3 per cash-out, up to $600 a month on eligible debit cards.
The catch
That 10% includes the shipping the buyer paid, not just the price. And it’s only fast if what you list is stuff people already search for.

Worth it? Yes if you’ve got a few things worth $50 to $100 each sitting around. Sneakers or an old game console, say. Selling locally for cash is faster still.

3.TaskRabbit

Best for: handy people with a free Saturday

What it is
A marketplace for local odd jobs like furniture assembly, moving help, mounting TVs, cleaning and errands. Taskers are independent contractors.
What you do
Use the separate Tasker app, pick your skills and work area, set your availability, and accept tasks.
How much it pays
You set your own hourly rate and minimum (the platform minimum is one hour), and you keep 100% of tips. The client’s card gets charged within 24 hours of your invoice, and the money goes through Stripe to your checking account.
The catch
There’s a one-time, non-refundable $25 registration fee, and paying it doesn’t guarantee you get in. You also need a US Social Security number and a background and ID check. And it only works in active TaskRabbit cities. The Tasker app’s ratings are rough, too.

Worth it? Only if you’re handy and can wait a week to start. Then a couple of furniture assemblies can cover a big chunk of $200.

4.Rover

Best for: a weekend of pet sitting

What it is
A marketplace where you run your own pet sitting, boarding, drop-in and dog walking business.
What you do
Build a profile, set your services and rates, get booked by pet owners, do the stay or the walks.
How much it pays
You always set your own rates. Rover takes a 20% service fee per booking, so you keep 80% (some US providers are in a pilot with different fees). Your pay shows up 2 days after you finish a service, then Stripe deposits it to your bank, which can take up to 5 business days.
The catch
You pay a $49 to $79 profile review fee up front, depending on where you live, and pass a background check. That makes it a next-month gig, not a this-weekend one.

Worth it? Only if you actually like animals and you’re thinking past this weekend. A weekend boarding job you price yourself can cover a lot of $200.

5.Bigcash

Best for: topping off the last $15

What it is
A rewards site and app that pays coins for games, apps, surveys and product offers.
What you do
Pick an offer, play the game or finish the task. Bigcash says most take 5 to 10 minutes.
How much it pays
250 coins = $1, so $15 is 3,750 coins. Cash out to PayPal or gift cards, and its App Store listing says payment goes out within 36 hours. Bigcash says it pays up to $170 per offer, but that’s its own claim and those are the long game offers.
The catch
Bigcash can raise your cash-out threshold based on how you use the account, and it can pull rewards if an advertiser flags your activity as not genuine. Play the games for real.

Worth it? Only as a top-off. Fill the gap between what your sales and shifts made and $200, then cash out.

Try Bigcash

Need $200 before you can earn it?

If the bill hits before Saturday does, a paycheck advance is the honest option. Current gives eligible users up to $1,000 before payday with no credit check, as long as you get at least one eligible payroll deposit of $200 or more a month into Current. Free if you can wait up to 3 days, or pay an Instant Access Fee to get it faster. It comes back out of your next payroll deposit, so it’s borrowing your own money early.

Gig pay can count as a payroll deposit if it’s direct-deposited, since Current includes independent contractor pay (it decides what qualifies). Transfers from PayPal or Venmo don’t count.
