Most “make money from your phone” apps pay pennies for hours of tapping. Some never pay at all. These 11 do.
None of this will change your life. But it's real money that lands in your PayPal, on a gift card or in your bank, and that's the bar.
For each app you get what it is, what you actually do, what it pays, the catch and whether it's worth your time. If a pay figure isn't listed, the app doesn't publish one.
I've used the game and rewards apps on this list. If you want my order for the big three: I'd start with Testerup, then Freecash and Bigcash personally, but all are good and worth a free sign up to check which apps pay best. It's easy to choose an offer and run it for a few days for extra cash.
Want to know which of these is paying best this week? That lives on the what's paying right now page. This one is the full list.
The 5 game and rewards apps to start with
These are the ones that pay you for playing games and trying apps on your phone, and they're the fastest way on this list to see real money hit your account, which is exactly why they go first.
1.Prograd
Best for: a quick $5 to start
- What it is
- A US-only app that pays you to play games and finish offers on your phone.
- What you do
- Sign up and grab the $5 gift, then pick a game or offer and hit its goals. There are surveys and small tasks in there too.
- How much it pays
- $5 just for signing up. Prograd says single offers pay up to $1,200 and most people see a first reward in about 2 minutes. You cash out to PayPal or a Visa card.
- The catch
- Cash-outs get processed within 7 working days, so it's not instant. And the $1,200 offers are the long, grindy ones.
Worth it? Yes if you're in the US and want a game app that puts money in your account on day one.
2.Bigcash
Best for: short offers on a break
- What it is
- A rewards app that pays coins for games, app trials, surveys and product offers. 250 coins = $1.
- What you do
- Pick an offer, play the game or finish the task, collect your coins. Bigcash says most offers take 5 to 10 minutes.
- How much it pays
- PayPal cash, gift cards or Bitcoin. The app says payments go out within 36 hours, and PayPal cash-outs come in set amounts. Bigcash claims up to $170 on a single offer and more than $20 million paid out so far.
- The catch
- Bigcash can raise your cash-out threshold based on how you use the account, and it can take coins back if an advertiser flags your activity. Best on your phone.
Worth it? Yes if you like quick offers you can knock out while you wait for coffee.
3.Branded
Best for: casual games you'd play anyway
- What it is
- The games side of Branded. You earn points for reaching levels in games and apps.
- What you do
- Pick a game offer, play until you hit the goal (usually a certain level), and the points land once it's verified.
- How much it pays
- 100 points for joining. 500 points = $5, and 500 is the minimum to redeem. Cash out to PayPal, bank transfer or gift cards. Branded says its top earners made $300+ in a week, but it also says members can expect $5 to $100 a month.
- The catch
- Points don't always show up right away. Some offers credit the second you finish, others take a while to verify.
Worth it? Yes if you already kill time on casual games. Might as well get paid for it.

4.Testerup
Best for: testing games for cash
- What it is
- An app that pays you to test mobile games and answer surveys.
- What you do
- Pick a task and follow its steps exactly. Each one usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, and every offer shows its reward before you start.
- How much it pays
- $10 welcome bonus. Cash out by PayPal, Venmo (US), Visa virtual card or Amazon gift card, usually within 24 hours and up to 3 business days.
- The catch
- PayPal and Venmo payouts lose 5%, so take the Visa card or the Amazon card if you want every cent. You also need to be 18+ and pass a face check before your first payout.
Worth it? Yes. Of the big three game apps, it's the one to try first.
5.Freecash
Best for: fast PayPal cash-outs
- What it is
- A rewards site and app that pays for games, app trials, surveys and offers.
- What you do
- Pick an offer, finish it, withdraw. Your first offer unlocks a $10 welcome bonus.
- How much it pays
- The first withdrawal is $5 to $20 depending on where you live, then $5 for PayPal after that. Most PayPal, crypto and gift card withdrawals are instant.
- The catch
- You have to verify your ID (a selfie plus your ID) before the first payout, and you need to be 16 or older.
Worth it? Yes if you want to find out fast whether this stuff is real. One small offer and one cash-out tells you.
6 more apps and sites that pay you
Slower, smaller or a little different. A couple of these find sign-up bonuses for you, one is a straight-up investment, and the last one is money you might already be owed from a class action.
6.ReferralWallet
Best for: finding sign-up bonuses
- What it is
- A free site that hides real sign-up bonuses from apps and brands inside packs you rip open.
- What you do
- Rip a free pack, see which bonus offers you got, pick one and finish its sign-up steps. A fresh pack unlocks the next day.
- How much it pays
- The partner app pays the bonus, in cash or gift cards, once you finish its steps. ReferralWallet itself doesn't pay you anything.
- The catch
- Every bonus has its own rules. Read them before you sign up or you can miss the payout.
Worth it? Yes if you're hunting sign-up bonuses. Each one that I tried, I got paid out.
7.InboxDollars
Best for: a balance in real dollars
- What it is
- A site and app that pays cash (dollars, not points) for surveys, games, shopping and offers.
- What you do
- Take surveys, play games, shop for cash back, scan receipts and open PaidEmails.
- How much it pays
- $5 welcome bonus once you sign up and finish the short profile survey. Your first cash-out is $15, then $10 after that, by PayPal, Visa or gift card.
- The catch
- Payment can take up to 10 business days. If you don't log in or confirm a PaidEmail in the 10 days before it's processed, the request gets dropped. US only, 18+.
Worth it? Only if you'll actually open it a few times a week. Slow, but it adds up.
8.Arrived Homes
Best for: putting side money to work
- What it is
- An investing app where you buy shares of rental homes. It's backed by Bezos and Benioff.
- What you do
- Pick a property or fund and buy shares. Arrived handles the tenants, the rent and the repairs.
- How much it pays
- You can start with $100. Rental cash flow gets paid out monthly under Arrived's current policy, plus whatever the home gains in value.
- The catch
- It's an investment, so the value can drop. You can only ask to cash out during quarterly windows after your first six months, and Arrived has to approve it.
Worth it? Only if you have money you won't touch for years. This is the long game, not quick cash.
9.Swagbucks
Best for: lots of ways to earn
- What it is
- One of the biggest rewards sites around. It pays points (SB) for surveys, games, shopping cash back and deals, and 100 SB = $1.
- What you do
- Surveys, game goals, shopping through Swagbucks, scanning grocery receipts, trying offers. When one dries up there's always another.
- How much it pays
- Gift cards start at 300 SB ($3). PayPal cash takes 2 to 5 business days.
- The catch
- The $10 welcome bonus isn't free on sign-up. You have to spend $25 at a store through Swagbucks within 30 days to get it.
Worth it? Yes if you shop online anyway. Then that bonus is basically free.
10.SavingLoop
Best for: getting a new offer handed to you
- What it is
- A free wheel you spin to land on a live sign-up offer.
- What you do
- Spin, look at the offer, and if you like it, finish its steps. Spinning is free and needs no purchase.
- How much it pays
- Every spin lands on an offer worth $1 to $75. The company behind the offer pays you directly.
- The catch
- The spin itself pays nothing. You only get paid when you finish the partner's steps.
Worth it? Yes if you're tired of digging for offers. I've signed up for the email list and I know what's working, what's not.
11.FileYourClaim
Best for: money you might already be owed
- What it is
- A running list of open class action settlements, a lot of them with no proof of purchase needed.
- What you do
- Find a settlement for something you actually used, fill out the claim form (a few minutes), submit it.
- How much it pays
- Each listing shows the payout and the deadline. Some are a couple bucks, some are $75 or more.
- The catch
- You wait. The money usually shows up after the settlement gets approved, often six months to a year after the deadline.
Worth it? Yes. Filing takes minutes, and you only file for stuff you really used.
How to stack these without wasting your time
Don't sign up for all 11 tonight. Pick a couple, give them a week, and drop the one that pays you the least once you can see the numbers side by side. Not sure which couple? Match them to your day with these apps sorted by what you already do.
Got a phone and 20 minutes a day? Prograd, Bigcash and Testerup. One offer in each, and you'll know pretty quickly which one pays you best.
Want a dollar balance that just keeps creeping up? InboxDollars and Swagbucks are slow but steady. Want your side money to grow instead of sitting in PayPal? That's Arrived, and only with cash you can leave alone for years.
Only care about PayPal? The apps that pay you real money through PayPal list sorts them by minimum and speed. If games are your thing, the game apps that pay real money list goes deeper. And if you'd rather get paid for real-world work, check the side gigs that actually pay or browse every side hustle on the site.
Quick questions
What app pays you real money instantly?
Freecash is the closest. Once you pass its one-time ID check, most PayPal, crypto and gift card withdrawals go through instantly. Testerup usually pays within 24 hours.
Which apps pay you just for signing up?
Prograd gives you $5 on sign-up. InboxDollars gives $5 after the short profile survey. Freecash's $10 unlocks after your first offer, and Testerup has a $10 welcome bonus. The Swagbucks $10 needs a $25 purchase first.
Are apps that pay you real money legit?
These ones pay out, but read the catch on each before you sign up. The scams are the apps that want money from you first or promise hundreds a day for tapping a screen. None of the earning apps here charge you to join. Arrived is the exception, since it's investing and your own money is on the line.
How much can you really make?
Think tens of dollars a month to start, more if you grind the long game offers. Branded itself says members can expect $5 to $100 a month. Nobody is replacing a paycheck with these.
Do these apps work outside the US?
Some do. Prograd, InboxDollars and the Arrived link are US only. Freecash and Swagbucks work in a bunch of other countries, but what you can earn and how you cash out changes by country.
Next step
Grab the free $5 on Prograd, then add one more app from the list once it pays you.
