How to Make $900 Fast: A One-Week Plan That Adds Up

The short answer

$900 in a week is doable if you treat it like a job: sell what you can on day one, apply to two or three delivery apps the same day, then work the hours once you’re approved.

Starting with zero approvals? Be honest with yourself. Background checks take days, so this is closer to a two-week plan. Apps that pay you to play games won’t cover more than a few bucks of it.

A one-week plan to make $900 fast: what to sell on day one, which delivery apps to apply to, the hourly math, and the payday loans and scams to steer clear of.

The one-week plan

Here’s how the week can break down. The dollar targets are a split that adds up, not a promise, so move them around to fit your life.

WhenWhat you doTarget
Day 1Apply to Amazon Flex, Spark Driver and Uber Eats. List your three best things for sale. Ask your manager about extra shifts.Get the clock started
Days 2 and 3Meet buyers, answer messages, take one local job (a yard cleanup or helping someone move).$300 from selling, $100 from the job
Days 4 to 7Work delivery blocks as approvals land. Run two apps at once when it is slow.$500 from delivery

Is $500 of delivery in four days realistic? At the $18 to $25 an hour Amazon says most Flex drivers earn, $500 is about 20 to 28 hours. That’s five to seven hours a day for four days. Tiring, yes. Doable, also yes.

And if a buyer flakes or an approval stalls, the extra shifts at your regular job are your backup.

The delivery apps that carry the week

Apply to all three on day one. Whichever approves you first is where your hours go.

Amazon Flex

Best for: the most predictable hourly pay

What it is
Amazon package delivery in your own car, in blocks you reserve ahead.
What you do
Grab blocks up to a week out, or same-day offers if you get approved mid-week, and deliver the route.
How much it pays
Most Flex drivers earn $18 to $25 an hour, per Amazon, and it guarantees at least $15 to $19 per scheduled hour depending on location and demand. Tips are 100% yours. You can pick daily pay, and cashing out to the Flex Debit Card or your bank is free.
The catch
Highest bar of the three: 21+, a 4-door midsize sedan or larger, and a background check that includes your driving record. Blocks get competitive in some cities.

Worth it? Yes if you qualify. Of these three, it gives you the clearest way to plan $900.

Apply on Amazon Flex

Spark Driver

Best for: Walmart deliveries in your zone

What it is
Walmart’s delivery gig app, for delivery-only trips or shop-and-deliver orders.
What you do
Turn on Spark Now and take trips in your zone, between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
How much it pays
Pay per trip, based on distance, order size and extras like heavy items or apartments, plus incentives and 100% of confirmed tips. You get paid instantly or weekly, depending on how you set up your account.
The catch
Zones can be full, and then you wait for a spot. Background check results typically take 1 to 7 business days. No published pay rate.

Worth it? Only if your zone is open. Apply anyway, it costs nothing to find out.

Apply on Spark Driver

Uber Eats

Best for: filling dead time between other gigs

What it is
Food, grocery and package delivery through the Uber Driver app.
What you do
Flip it on when your other app is slow. You see the fare and any upfront tip before you accept, so you can skip the bad ones.
How much it pays
Base fare plus promotions plus 100% of tips. Instant Pay up to 6 times a day for $1.25 each, free after every trip with the Uber Pro Card,, or a weekly transfer to your bank.
The catch
Background screening first. Car delivery is 19+ (21 in California and New York State). Busy depends a lot on your city.

Worth it? Yes as your second app. Running it alongside Spark or Flex cuts the waiting around.

Sign up for Uber Eats

Running two apps at once? Only accept what you can deliver on time. A late order hurts your ratings on both. For more options, see jobs like Amazon Flex or the best food delivery jobs.

Days 2 and 3: the $400 you can make while you wait

Waiting on approvals is the worst part. Use it.

Sell your best three items locally for cash. Price them a touch under the eBay sold listings for the same thing and they’ll go faster. Then pick up one local job: raking a yard, cleaning out a garage, hauling a couch. Our $800 guide covers how to find those jobs and what to charge.

Got 10 spare minutes? Sign up for Testerup and Freecash. Each has a $10 welcome bonus. That’s lunch money, not $900, but it’s free.

What not to do to hit $900

Don’t take a payday loan for it. They usually charge $10 to $30 for every $100 you borrow, due in two to four weeks. On $900 at the common $15 rate, that’s $135 for two weeks, which equals almost 400% APR. And most payday loans don’t even go that high: $500 is a common limit.

Don’t answer a “quick cash” job that wants you to deposit a check and send money back, or reship packages. The FTC calls both scams, flat out.

If your paycheck already goes to Current, a paycheck advance is the better short-term fix: up to $1,000 for eligible customers, free if you wait up to 3 business days. A credit union payday alternative loan, capped at 28% APR, is next best.

FAQ

Can I make $900 in a week with delivery apps?

Yes, if you’re already approved and put in the hours. At $18 to $25 an hour, the full $900 is 36 to 50 hours of delivery. Selling a few things cuts that down a lot.

Which delivery app approves you fastest?

None of them promise a time. Spark says background check results typically take 1 to 7 business days. Apply to two or three on the same day so one slow approval doesn’t stall your week.

Do I need a car to make $900 fast?

It helps a lot. Amazon Flex and Spark need one. Uber Eats lets you deliver by bike or on foot in some cities, but you’ll cover fewer orders an hour.

Aiming lower? Here’s how to make $800 fast. Need the full four figures? See how to make $1,000 fast. More in our side hustles section, what’s paying right now, and the apps that pay you real money if you want something for the slow hours.

Next step
